Will Storr has written a great book about the paranormal, and the business of the paranormal. In his search for the truth about ghosts, he meets charlatans, mental cases, celebrity psychics, and, surprisingly, a few ghosts. Storr is clever and funny, and rightly takes a run at some obvious frauds, but he is also sympathetic to those who are being haunted and, against his natural smart-ass cynicism, finds himself rediscovering his own spirituality. Surprisingly this "man of worldly mind," finds himself repeatedly frightened in allegedly haunted houses. The book is, at times, hilarious, and, at other times, quite suspenseful. Overall, great fun and beautifully written.
