The story no-one else can tell. Scott Peterson's sister gives her account of his marriage and his disturbing behaviour - and tells how she realised that her brother was capable of murder. What happens if, after being given up for adoption in childhood, you reestablish contact with your biological family - only to discover that your true brother is a killer? Anne Bird, the sister of Scott Peterson, knows first-hand. Soon after her birth in 1965, Anne was given up for adoption by her mother, Jackie Latham. Welcomed into the well-adjusted Grady family, she lived a happy life. Then, in the late 1990s, she got back in contact with her mother - now married - and her family, including Jackie's son, Scott Peterson, and his wife, Laci. Over the next several years, Anne shared the Petersons' holidays, family reunions, trips to Disneyland. Anne and Laci became pregnant at roughly the same time, and the two became confidantes. On Christmas Eve 2002, Laci Peterson went missing, and the happy facade of the Peterson family began to crumble. Anne helped in the search for Laci; Scott even stayed in her home while police tried to find his wife. Noticing Scott's bizarre behaviour, Anne grew suspicious that her brother knew more than he was telling. Then Laci's body - and that of her unborn son, Conner - were found . Had Scott Peterson murdered his wife and child in cold blood? Filled with newsmaking revelations and intimate glimpses of Scott and Laci, Blood Brother is an account of how long-dormant family ties dragged one woman into one of the most notorious crimes of our time.

Anne Bird knows how to "put you right there" in her entire life and the lives she was welcomed into. She does not make it confusing. It's informative, and yes, it's her perspective, but who says one actually makes up their mind forever? Read this and find out how she came to think the way she did.
I couldn't put it down and many people have borrowed it from me.

Tragic Story
Anne Bird is a step-sister to convicted murdered Scott Peterson. Anne was given up for adoption by her and Scott's seemingly disfunctional mother. Later in life, she was reunited with her birth mother and accepted by the Peterson clan as one of the family. When Laci Peterson was reported missing and the press was hounding Scott, Anne and her husband let Scott stay at their house. In this book, Anne recounts how she slowly began to realize that Scott was indeed guilty of murdering her beloved sister-in-law, Laci. Taking an additional toll on her is her marriage strained by Scott's presence in the house and pressure put on her by her birth mother to believe (and lie) about Scott's innocence. In the book, Anne lists 33 reasons that she has for believing in Scott's guilt. Most of these reasons are based on Scott's behavior and are not the reasons that were used to convict him. In the end, it remains a sad story and Anne is again estranged from her birth family. Except for Anne's belief that Scott drowned Laci in the pool (it is too cold in December to be relaxing in an outdoor pool) her observations are compelling additional proof of the guilt of Scott Peterson.

Eye Opener
Written from his sister's point of view, Anne has captured the evil in her brother, while she herself is confused of his Innocence. This book is a real eye opener on how the love for a family member can blind the truth and shield us from what we are scared to believe.
Having known nothing about the case before reading this book, it was amazing to read how a newly found family can bond together in a situation that usually rips families apart. It was amazing to read how a murderer can continue with life as usual while those around then are so conflicted. A true read on how our lifes can be changed in a blind of an eye.
