If you are looking for a good first "all around" chess book, look no further. I have worked my way through many of the so-called "chess tutors" that are out there. This is the first and only book I have come across that will help you learn all the necessary skills to be a well-rounded chess player. You will be confident AND enjoy the game. This is the first book I have ever come across that is able to explain clearly and simply how to develop a plan at the board based on the position of the pieces ( both yours and your opponents) after the opening development is completed. I took it out of the library and will definitely be buying my own copy - this book warrants at least two complete re-reads. I can't speak highly enough about it. Buy it and watch it become dog-eared with use. If it doesn't , it means that you've given up playing chess!
