What a revelation
I read to my daughter for a half hour or so every day at bedtime. We began reading the Nancy drew books some months back and have completed the first 13 books. I purchased an unrevised edition of this book; probably not a first printing first edition, but certainly an unrevised first edition.
Let's face it, this book is pure pulp, but so very revealing of the times in which it was written. No political correctness, interesting and not very current vocabulary allows us to discuss how things once were and compare them to how they are now, and how they might one day be. Nancy Drew doesn't always exercise the best judgement, a topic I can discuss with my daughter.
If you look past the datedness of the original books there are so, so many lessons you can draw from reading these to you child.
