Seller's Description:
Fine in fine dust jacket. Audience: General/trade. Red vs. Yellow vol. 2: Thailand's Political Awakening begins with the first Red Shirt protests against the coalition government led by Abhisit Vejjajiva in early 2009 and covers in depth the large protests in March-April 2009, including the Red Shirt's storming of the ASEAN Summit venue in Pattaya, the Blue Shirt controversy and the bloody clashes during the crackdown of April 13 on the protests in the Songkran holidays. The book also describes the subsequent rise of the Red Shirt Movement to become a social mass movement. The relatively rare public appearances of the PAD in the same period are also covered, including the lavish celebrations accompanying the founding of their political party. Nick Nostitz continues to follow closely the present era of color movements in Thailand, in both text and photo. This volume resumes where the first volume of this work-Thailand's crisis of identity-ended. The uprising of the Red Shirts in spring 2010 will be covered in a third volume, currently in preparation.
