"George Leslie Mackay or Má-kai (21 March 1844 – 2 June 1901) was the first Presbyterian missionary to northern Taiwan (then Formosa). He served with the Canadian Presbyterian Mission. Mackay is among the best known Westerners to have lived in Taiwan." Tight binding. No chips, tears, creases. Green cloth-covered boards with silver embossed lettering. Dust jacket is NOT price-clipped. A gift inscription to "Walter & Barbara" from former Canadian Member of Parliament, Peter Braid, Kitchener-Waterloo, which reads, "For two great Presbyterians who have had such a positive impact on Canada, a book by a great Presbyterian who helped to shape Taiwan! " Walter and Barbara are most likely Walter and Barbara Maclean of Waterloo, Ontario. Walter Maclean was also a Member of Parliament. Illustrated with black and white photos and maps.
