Seller's Description:
Good+ 1853811041. Ida Kar (1908-1974) came to London from Armenia where she helped propel photography in a recognized form of fine art. She photographed the London scene for many years, Castro's Cuba, etc. Especially well-known for her portraits, the author explores both her life and her art in the first half of the book (illustrated with photos). There are about 83 full page b&w plates of some of her best work in the rear. The covers are white, printed stiff wrappers illustrated with photos. There is a light crease to the upper corner of the front wrapper, and a small rubbed spot toward the bottom; there is faint age spotting to the covers which prevents this book from being in very good condition. The contents are clean, tight and unmarked with no interior or exterior markings, owner names, underlining or highlighting. Please inquire if you would like more information. It is probably a first edition, however it is not stated as such. Virago Press was founded in 1973 as a feminist publishing house to "champion women's voices."; B&W Photographs; 4to 11"-13" tall; 158 pages; Signed by All Authors.
