Seller's Description:
Like New. Size: 6x0x9; A young WWI veteran, escapes a military hospital to avoid being sent to a tubercular isolation camp, and finds himself working with a beekeeper. It is here that he finally begins to heal from his wounds and finds adventure, happiness, and love. A book that examines the healing power that nature and kindness can have upon someone's life. Gene Stratton-Porter (1863-1924), born Geneva Grace Stratton, was an American writer, nature photographer, and naturalist. Remembered for her ambition and individualism, she was also a passionate nature lover who encouraged people to explore nature and the outdoors. She especially loved birds and did extensive studies of moths. Among her lasting legacies is her early and outspoken advocacy for nature conservation. Stratton-Porter supported efforts to preserve wetlands, such as the Limberlost Swamp, and saving the wild elk at Jackson Hole, Wyoming, from extinction. She also recognized the impact that cutting down trees would have on climate change and encouraged Americans to preserve the environment.
