Seller's Description:
Near Fine in Not Issued jacket. 2003 edition limited to 1000 copies. NEAR FINE. Hardcover Catalog published for the January 9-February 22, 2003 exhibition at Roth Horowitz Gallery in New York. A fresh, unmarked and tightly bound copy (issued without a jacket). Pages pristine. Hardcover, pictorial paper over boards, is clean and sharp; there are a few tiny rub marks along outside bottom edges and corner tips of the boards, otherwise cover is fine. The exhibit juxtaposed two groups of photos, one made by Harold Edgerton sometime after 1951, showing the first microseconds of atomic test explosions on Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The other group, the work of an anonymous photographer believed to be a U.S. naval officer, was made in Hiroshima in the weeks after August 6, 1945. The catalog contains 10 of these black and white images (plus the cover photo), carefully reproduced and most printed as two-page spreads. The introductory essay was written by James Elkin. 8-3/4 x 11-1/4". 30 pages.
