The Taos Society was founded in 1915 to provide a link between artists in the tiny, isolated New Mexico village and the major American art markets. This study includes the six founding members: Joseph Sharp, Oscar Berninghaus, Ernest Blumenschein, Bert Phillips, E. Irving Couse, and W. Herbert Dunton as well as artists who later joined the Society.
