Seller's Description:
Good in Fair jacket. 8vo-over 7¾-9¾" tall. pp. 114. Excellent copy internally, contents pages clean, unmarked and well cared-for; boards have some marks and discolouring. Dust jacket also has some discolouring and spine faded. Previous owner's name handwritten on front inside page. Page edges untrimmed. Winner of the 1979 Nobel Prize for Literature. The selection traces Elytis's development from early surrealism, through the new and dramatic style of 'The Axion Esti' with its blend of spirituality and earthiness, up the work published during the 1970s, in which he continued to experiment with new modes for expressing his perennial themes.
