Fine. 0821218352. 127pp.; 4to; orange cloth and dust jacket; 127 full page halftones made from original photographs. Published in association with the Philadelphia Museum of Art on the occasion of a major retrospective exhibition, 1990-91. Jacket with minor rubbing to leading edges and toward the top of the spine. Emmet Gowin was born in 1941 and grew up in southern Virginia. His prints have been exhibited widely and are in the collections of museums and galleries throughout the United States. He first gained attention in the 1970s with his intimate portraits of his wife, Edith, and her family. Later he turned his attention to the landscapes of the American West, taking aerial photographs of places that had been changed by humans or nature, including the Hanford Site, Mount St. Helens, and the Nevada Test Site. Gowin taught at Princeton University for more than 35 years. [Jacket notes; Wikipedia] Near Fine, with protective mylar wrap.
