Seller's Description:
Very good. Shame and related affective disorders. Wurmser always distinguished between shame and guilt and alluded to the narcissistic aspect of shame. In this monograph he discusses shame-related anxiety and attitudes, scopophilia, voyeurism, exhibitionism, and associated concepts. Wurmser analyzes the 4 major symptoms of masked shame: (a) severe depersonalization, (b) depression, (c) eating disorders, and (d) thought disturbances. Methods of treating masked shame in all its manifestations are discussed, and the general relevance of Wurmser's theories for psychotherapy is examined. New York Freudian Society in New York.
