Seller's Description:
Very good. 12mo, 6 x 5.5 inches, wraps, very good, light soil to covers, inscription to Gerald Stern, citing some of the photos, on first page, probably not by anyone associated with the book. With notes on the rear cover by Stern, seems to be jottings for a possible poem: "It was not just that / some dumb Jew had / (to pay) been forced to. / it was that the enough [? ] world was full of suffering as it was--/ and from time to time / believed in plain speech /--so he turned to Kant / for the Germans know everything." Stern, an award winning poet, considered one of the greatest American poets of the late 20th century, died earlier this year well into his 90s.
