Harold Vinson Synan, historian of the Pentecostal movement, has written sixteen books of which fifteen discuss some facet of Pentecostal and Charismatic history. Harold Vinson Synan, historian of the Pentecostal movement, has written sixteen books of which fifteen discuss some facet of Pentecostal and Charismatic history. He currently serves as Dean of the School of Divinity at Regent University in Virginia Beach. He has previously served as director of the Holy Spirit Research Center at Oral Roberts University and as general secretary of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. As an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Synan has planted four churches and taught history. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, Synan helped organize the Society for Pentecostal Studies. He also served four years as General Secretary of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
