By all accounts, he transformed High Point University from a "sleepy small school" to a dynamic and highly successful institution of higher learning. Student enrollment and the number of faculty quadrupled. National rankings topped the U.S. News "Best Colleges in the South." The campus grew from 91 to 550 acres and the number of buildings expanded from 22 to 128. With an investment of almost $3 billion, the university evolved from three academic schools to fourteen. Graduation rates, learning outcomes, and career placements moved up measurably.
