Martin Murphy was raised in a small town in central New York State, where he still resides. Martin struggled with learning disabilities all threw school, but he would not let those disabilities determine his future. Upon graduation from high school he had the twelve thoracic vertebrae in his back fused together, spending many days and nights in a horizontal position while he healed. Determined to enjoy the most out what life has to offer after this, he spent an adventurous twenty-two years in a whitewater kayak becoming a professional safety kayaker, securing sponsorship from boat companies. Every step Martin has taken has been to live life to its fullest and explore excitement at every bend and turn --in any river he could conquer while enjoying the extreme sport of whitewater kayaking.
