John Saylor was born and raised in Harlan, Kentucky. He was diagnosed with Glaucoma right from the start. When he was eleven years old he was introduced to the Kentucky School for the Blind. He made a lot of good friends and realized that there were other students with a vision problem who struggled in school too. He made a lot of good friends and realized that there were other students with a vision problem who struggled in school too. John tried out his writing skills and a teacher read it and submitted it; as a result he won a medal called, 'The Young Authors Award.' From then on John's writing skills grew and now he has written his first novel called, Shards of Glass. John Saylor is married and has one daughter. He resides in Jefferson, IN.
