Author Janice McAlpine has been a professional writer for the better part of two decades, as a newspaper reporter, columnist, and freelancer, and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, where she lives with Darrell, her husband of thirteen years. Although she has loved writing since she was a child in Canada, where she was born, her experience as a schoolteacher, and with her own children and grandchildren, inspired her to share her love of animals with a young audience in her Molly McPherson - 1st Lady series of children's books. With Molly & Winston, the fourth book in the series, she hopes to shine a spotlight on the importance and value of fostering animals in need, even those animals with physical disabilities, as well as the possibility of training our pets to act as therapy dogs for work in hospitals and nursing homes, bringing joy and comfort to people in need.
