James Likoudis is a former college instructor in history and government with more than twenty years teaching experience in public and private education. James Likoudis is a former college instructor in history and government with more than twenty years teaching experience in public and private education. A nationally known writer and lecturer in catechetics, sex education, and the liturgy, he has published many articles on these and related subjects, including the booklet Fashioning Person for a New Age critiquing so-called ?Catholic? sex education. A convert to the Catholic Church from Greek Orthodoxy (1952), Mr. Likoudis translated Rene Casin's Saint Thomas Aquinas, Orthodoxy, and Neo-Modernism in the Church (1977). He has authored 3 important books on the possible reunion of the Churches of the East and the West: Ending the Byzantine Greek Schism (Second Revised Edition, 1992; The Divine Primacy of the Bishop of Rome and Modern Eastern Orthodoxy: Letters to a Greek Orthodox on the Unity of the Church (Second Edition, 2002); and Eastern Orthodoxy and the See of Peter (2006). In addition to co-authoring The Pope, the Council and the Mass, he has edited and annotated an English translation of the work of St. Thomas Aquinas: On Reasons for Our Faith against the Muslims, Greeks and Armenians (2002). He received the 2002 Blessed Frederick Ozanam Award for Catholic Social Action from the Society of Catholic Social Scientists (SCSS) and is a contributor to Catholic Social Thought, Social Science, and Social Policy: An Encyclopedia (2006). He is also the author of dozens of articles in a variety of publications, and has long been a sought-after-speaker in defense of Catholic truth. Mr. Likoudis is president-emeritus of Catholics United for the Faith (CUF), an international lay association headquartered in Steubenville, Ohio. Mr. Likoudis is married to the former Ruth Elaine Hickelton, and they are the parents of six children and 35 grandchildren. See less
