J.B. Mozley (1813 - 1878), educated at Oriel College, Oxford, was elected to a fellowship at Magdalen College in 1840. From the first he had taken a keen interest in the Oxford Movement, and after the secession of John Henry Newman in 1845 was for a long time one of its foremost representatives in Oxford. In time, his Tractarian beliefs became more moderate, though he remained a strong Churchman.
