She learned to love and respect animals from her parents, especially from her father. He risked his neck climbing up a tree to put a fallen baby squirrel back into the nest. He didn't mind ruining the wall, while he hammered a platform under the clumsily built willow nest. He fixed the broken beak of a young stork with - of course what else - duct tape. But it worked; the stork came back next summer to nest on top of the school building. This book is dedicated to Michael, Erika's father. See less
