DAVID S. LOVEJOY us a professor emeritus of history at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he taught from 1960 to 1983. He received a B.S. from Bowdoin College in 1941 (and Distinguished Bowdoin Educator Award in 1980) and Ph.D. from Brown University in 1954.
