Carlton O Wittlinger
Carlton O. Wittlinger is an historian by profession and a churchman by commitment. Dr. Wittlinger did his undergraduate work at Messiah College and Taylor University. He received his M.A. from the University of Buffalo, and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Carlton O. Wittlinger is an historian by profession and a churchman by commitment. Dr. Wittlinger did his undergraduate work at Messiah College and Taylor University. He received his M.A. from the University of Buffalo, and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a member of the Messiah College faculty since 1943 where he presently serves as Professor of History. During his association with Messiah College he has served as Registrar, Dean of the College, and Chairman of the Division of Social Sciences. As a churchman, he knows the Brethren in Christ from personal involvement, having served at the denominational level in various assignments including that of Church Archivist since 1961. He has devoted a lifetime to teaching in the denomination's colleges. He has been a contributor to scholarly journals including the Journal of the Lancaster County Historical Society, Pennsylvania History, and Mennonite Quarterly Review. He has been visiting Professor of History at Elizabethtown College and at Eastern Mennonite College. He is married to the former Fay Martin. They have one son and two daughters. See less
