Alexander MacLeod was born in Inverness, Cape Breton, Canada, and was raised in Windsor, Ontario. His first short story collection, Light Lifting (2010), was short-listed for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, and the Commonwealth Book Prize.
