I have heard that Kennedy is a very thoughtful and thorough zen teacher - I know several zen students who have sat with him. I am also always on the lookout for books that really seem to unlock the Teaching of Jesus in the context of meditation. Kennedy uses the famous 'ox-herding' pictures that paint the stages of meditation for the zen practitioner as backbone of his exploration. I feel in my heart that there is a perspective that a Christian can bring to the practice of mediation that is unique and an addition to the traditional teaching of Buddhist teachers. I am still waiting for this to open. But that is really a personal quest and I cannot fault Fr. Kennedy for not knocking down doors for me. I am still searching. Stay tuned.
