Condit does a good job of chronicling the rise of Pacific Western Airlines during the the Russ Baker era. He provides just enough overlap with Air Canada and Canadian Pacific Airlines to help us see the inner force that drove Russ onward. As a side point there is material on the Kitimat aluminium smelter and how it helped Baker?s airline to grow, albeit at the expense of Queen Charlotte Airlines.
This book is a must for someone collecting Canadian aviation history. It delivers a wealth of information, yet at the same time allows Russ Baker?s personality to dominate the work, just as it did the airline when he was alive. All in a all I rate it a decent read.
