A very unpleasant former husband and a tug of war for the land in which Deborah's heart is rooted ends in a mature and transcendent decision by the old bootlegger who is her father. The road to to the resolution is not exactly littered with bodies, but there are a few. And the wonderful ambience of Deborah's home landscape and culture is an experience worth the time you spend rambling through it. I am truly and fairly hooked on the whole scene, and the books of this series are worth not only reading but re-reading.
