I read this the first time when I was young and growing up in the UK. It was partly an inspiration to a life-long pursuit of angling. Descriptions of tackle used indicates how far we have progressed, but some of the descriptions of fishing expeditions are lyrical. I met one of the contributors, Negley Farson, when I was about 12 at his home in North Devon. He showed me his rods and tackle and his "Going Fishing" book is superb. That and this anthology inspired me to a life in which I have enjoyed "coarse" fishing, sea fishing, and fly-fishing for trout!
