Have you ever gone on vacation and wished and dreamed that you could just leave your old life behind and stay forever? My husband and I visited the UK for the first time in 2007 and that is certainly how we felt. But of course we didn't do it. But what fun to read a book about someone who did!! Well, except that they didn't stay forever... they sold their home in Minneapolis and flew with a bit of baggage to a little moldy cottage in the Highlands and lived there two years. They lived our dream and we get to vicariously live it with them. I keep reading bits aloud to my husband. I don't usually pay this much for a book but it is worth it. I plan to read and reread it every time I am longing for the Highlands...in fact, maybe I should just buy a second copy now to have when my present copy disintegrates.
