I was also inter- ested in the idea of creativity. Turning one thing into some- thing else. And originality is important. The Seven-Letter Word drawings - I do not know anyone else doing this. Seven-Letter Word is about working with restric- tions. I was inspired by other artists who worked within limitations. In the early 80s I left the glamorous SoHo and my art career behind. Living the life, the adventure was more important than tting into some sterile career, the insecurities of comparisons with others. Ugh. In the mid- 1980s I had a show in a gallery/bookstore/archive at 68 Thompson Street. Jean Noel Herlin's antiquarian book- store was one of the most fascinating places I had shown in. Instead of malicious gossip and endless comparisons, I met so many amazing artists and people in that tiny space. I expanded my knowledge of what art is and came in contact with art forms I never knew existed"--
