The Revelation was the first book I read by Bentley Little, an underrated master of literary horror fiction. Strange things are happening in the small town of Randall, Arizona. All of the women in town find themselves inexplicably pregnant, even virgins and women who are more than 80 years old! When they later give birth, all of the babies are stillborn. The doctor is baffled when the bodies of the infants turn up missing. The only clue is the tiny bloody footprints that eerily suggest that they could have gotten up and walked out. Shortly after the local minister and his family mysteriously disappear, a resident discovers that the church has been vandalized, leaving behind obscenities that are scrawled in goats blood. Soon after, an entire family perishes in a horrific house fire. As more terrifying deaths follow, the residents of Randall fearfully question what could be behind these bizarre, nightmarish occurrences. A preacher soon arrives with a chilling explanation. An ancient evil has come to town, and it intends to make the destruction of Randall the first step in destroying the world and all of mankind! And only a handful of faithful men, including a happily married writer, can vanquish the evil before it is too late. This horrifying debut by Bentley Little is a book I loved reading! I had heard of the author and his reputation for being a wonderful horror novelist before I ever read the book, which had me thrilled about getting the chance to read it. I was more than pleased with the story. This is a masterpiece of terror and dread that would make an awesome book for ANY horror fan! It would make an especially fantastic choice for Halloween!
