I was referred to this book by a well-known writer who lives in Santa Fe and who knows Mark Bryan. Her recommendation was so strong, and my situation so much like his, that I had to read it.
Like Bryan I walked out of my children's lives after a divorce, thinking I was doing them 'a favor', and regretting it for years afterwards. While he writes about the reconciliation that took place in his life, I am still hoping for my own, and Prodigal Father lays out scenarios that just might work.
I have done years of off-and-on counseling and very-on 12 Step recovery, and learned things about myself and other men who have done the same in the first few pages that I never even had a glimmer of before opening the book.
This is an invaluable aid to the legions (alas) of men who have, mistakenly and inadvertently, done great damage to the children left behind, and offers great hope that at least some of the damage might be repaired.
