This is a book that hold your attention, and fills you in on missing parts of the history of Central Asia as lived by a mysterious Jewish writer pretending to be an Arab.

a far reaching history
The Orientalist takes the reader on a historical journey from the shores of the Caspian with oil fires burning in the night and memories of Zoroaster through the Russian Revolution ending in Mussolini's Italy.I found it a fascinating way to learn about the history of the early 20th century with Lev Nussimbaum's life as the magic carpet that took me along.I highly recommended this book.
