WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH? "This is and must be our only concern. If the plain teachings of Holy Scripture appear to destroy or contradict our understanding of any doctrine, then let us relinquish the doctrine, or acknowledge the fact that our minds are both depraved and miniscule, and bow down to the revelation of God." -Don Fortner Timothy Klaver applies the above quote from Don Fortner to the study of every doctrine of the Scriptures. He is very wary of, and warns against, interpretations based on personal subjective feelings and opinions. Regardless of how we have been raised, what we have been taught, or what we presently believe, it is our own responsibility to find out "What do the Scriptures teach?" and then, in humility, submit to those truths and conform our beliefs accordingly. No matter the cost to ourselves! We live in a time where truth is under constant attack, under threat of being silenced and shut up. We need to learn the truth, speak the truth, and take a stand for the truth. There is no "your truth" and "my truth"; there is only the truth. Truth is not relative, it is absolute. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). Unfortunately, we live in times where people are largely unable to think objectively for themselves. As soon as you ask them questions, the engine of their mind seizes because they do not know how to answer. By asking them questions, you have forced them to have to think about their position and what they believe. Sadly, most people just go with the flow because it is easier on them. People do not alter their beliefs easily. In fact, many people refuse to accept an irrefutable truth simply because that truth puts them in the wrong, and that means that they would have to swallow their pride and admit that they had believed wrongly. "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling" (Proverbs 16:18). In this book, holding the Scriptures high as our final authority on all matters pertaining to faith and life, Timothy examines many of the arguments presented by homosexuals and pro-gay theologians and answers them thoroughly and soundly from Scripture, applying a healthy dose of logic and common sense; something sorely needed in this present time. If you are unfamiliar with this subject, or are not knowledgeable enough to know how to answer arguments leveled against you, this book will educate you and equip you to do just that. "Contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints" (Jude 1:3).
