He conceived and led the 'Thank You Britain' fund in the 1960s, raising £96, 000 (well over £1 million in today's terms) within the Jewish refugee community from central Europe, for a scholarship fund and series of annual lectures at the British Academy. / Geoffrey Leonard Cheshire, Baron Cheshire, VC, OM, DSO & Two Bars, DFC (1917&endash; 1992) was a highly decorated Royal Air Force pilot and group captain during the Second World War, and a philanthropist. After the war he founded a hospice that grew into the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability. He became known for his work in conflict resolution. Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket.
