I first encountered this work in notebook form, years ago. Now I am giving it to my husband's granddaughter who will shortly be moving to a village and culture in another country, half the world away. I couldn't think of a better reference for her to have as she learns their ways, and looks to see what of western country living will travel!

Good coverage of farming topics. Encyclopedias are always good references.

a must-have
I purchased this volume on the recommendation of a preparedness website intending to use it only as a sporadic reference. Upon opening the book, though, I find myself reading it like a novel. Carla's writing style iscaptivating and educational. It sits open on the coffee table ready for any spare moments I have during the day. I love it.

Must Have!
This book is a must have for your emergency kit....contains so much info stuffed between the pages of this 'true reference book'. I do not know how Carla Emery managed to put this all together. It should have been a lifetimes work there is so much info in there! Thank you Carla Emery for this book.
