The book really does take a while to get into, with the first maybe 60% composed mostly of glimpses at what's to come inbetween massive inner monologues and character development that comes off as though it needed slimmed down a bit. This is very quickly made up for in the latter half of the book, when things really spiral. The depiction of what the main character is experiencing is just absolutely phenomenal. The rollercoaster of haunting imagery at times that all just seems to collapse back into reality, further driving him mad is just awesomely described and I couldn't get enough of it. I definitely plan on coming back to give this a reread at some point.
