Excerpt from The Australasian Journal of Pharmacy, Vol. 30: With Which Is Incorporated the Australasian Chemist and Druggist; June 21st, 1915 This can only be made satisfactorily in large quantities at a time - one gallon, at least. Com ing to the subject of the solid forms of petroleum, the author, while admitting that they are quite as efficacious as the liquid variety, thinks that the consistency of them is a disadvantage, but since, in consequence of the war, pure liquid petroleum has become so expensive, he has been driven to tind some cheaper substitute for hos pital use, and finds that a very nice confection of vaseline can be made by rubbing it up with chocolate and casein. This mixture constitutes a very cheap laxative. As with liquid paraffin, so with the solid forms. The dosage is a matter to be determined by individual experiment.
