this book to be an outstanding story of adventure and the perseverance of a single person's journey. It provided a description of our country before most Europeans had arrived in North America. It also described various tribes and what interested me the most was how the French treated the Native Americans compared to the English. The French had a completely different view of the lands and viewed it as something they could earn an income from in corroboration with the natives. The Europeans considered it to be free land and treated the natives as intruders to their progress. I was unaware of extent of La Salle's explorations and was pleased to learn something new. Would recommend this book for anyone interested in the French adventures into the New World, the various native groups encountered in these new lands and learning more about the Explorers that helped us all get where we are today.
