Your child will be delighted to work on their time-telling skills using this colorful (also available in B&W) dinosaur-themed instructional workbook. Friendly baby dinosaurs decorate the 58 pages of exercises. The first section consists of a concise discussion of time, what it is, why we need it, what are its component parts. The second section consists of decorated instructional pages on what an analog clock is, what the arrows are called, distinguishing between the hour and minute hands, and how to discern what number comes first in telling the time and how it is correctly written with a colon separating the hour and minutes. Next, there is a discussion of full hour (no minutes), quarter hour (15 minutes), half hour (30 minutes), and three-quarter hour (45 minutes) time. The last section briefly challenges the student to try telling time when the hands are between the numbers. The third section consists of pages for practice with choosing the right time based on the position of the hands on the clock face.Times for full hour, quarter hour, half hour, and three-quarter hour time intervals comprise the first forty work pages. Each page details four clock faces for a total of 160 practice questions. The second section consists of twelve pages of blank clock faces with the time listed beside the clock face. Each of the twelve pages has four clock faces for a total of 48 practice questions. The child will practice drawing the hands in the correct positions on the empty clock faces along with discerning where the hour (short) hand will point and where the minute (long) hand will point. The last section includes six challenge questions. Four involve figuring out the time when the hands are on smaller units (minutes) two involve drawing in the hour and minute hands correctly for smaller unit time. All answers are included at the back of the book. The large 8.5 x 11 size makes it easy for young hands to write and draw. Matte cover. Pick one up for your child, grandchild, niece, or nephew today. They will enjoy some quiet time with the interactive pages and learn the art of telling time looking at a numbered clock face, just like the adults do.
