Maybe something that involved trolls that are cruel at first, but then become powerful allies to Coldhollow. This epic journey is crafted by Mr. Batson that leads the imagination on a grand adventure!

One of the best!
Just finished this and I couldn?t be any happier with it. I have read all of Mr. Batson's other book but I think this beats them all. Here is a bit about the story.
Our hero is Alastair Coldhollow a former assassin for the Wolf guard. But he has changed his ways and now searches for the legendary Halfainin. But he loses hope and goes back to an old habit for awhile. Witchdrale takes over his sharp mind once again when he is given the responsibility of a young child that changes him once again.
I mustn't give any more specifics away but this book blew me away with its detailed characters, twisting plot, and over all thrill. It's one of those books that you want to read all night but realize that then it would be over too soon. Good thing the second one is out now!
I would suggest this to tough hardcore 13-14 years and then on up because of a few gory scenes that aren't necessarily that terrible. There is a bit of clean sweet romance that by no means over rules the rest of the story. (Which is a standard for my reads.)
Genre I would say is Fantasy fiction. It includes a few types of people/creatures but they aren't too strange and weird. (That?s a turn off for some)
In all I believe most any one could enjoy this book and will be dying for the next and the next and the next (ect.)

Awesome Book!
In The Sword in the Stars, the Iceman, Alastair Coldhollow, searches for the Sword in the Stars, a constellation that would appear in the night sky and point towards the location of the fabled Halfainin. It had been foretold that the Halfainin would be Myriad's messiah and would defeat the Dark King and bring peace to Myriad. Meanwhile, the Gorrack nation is threatening war on the other nations of Myriad by raiding and destroying many of their cities.
In this book, readers will follow Alastair Coldhollow through many battles and adventures in his search for the Halfainin. It was extremely well written and is definitely worth a read!
I could not stop reading it!! I would recommend it for everyone who likes battles, fantasy, and adventure to read!

Sword in the Stars - Wonderful
Storyline - Alistair Coldhollow has changed his ways to follow the First One. Turning from a life of addiction and regret, he gazes upon the stars searching for the sword that will announce the prophesied hero, the Halfainin, that will save the world. A hero Alistair desperately needs. When the sword appears, he goes and tests many to find the Halfainin, but none pass. Falling into despair, he meets a woman running for her life who hands him a bundle containing a babe. After seeking help from an old friend, Abbageal, mystery, war, and love soon follow. But can Alistair receive forgiveness for his past deeds and the world of Myriad be saved from a sly tyrant trying to take the throne?
Personal Opinion - One of the best books yet by Mr. Batson. His characters are so real and the story is so captivating. I got pulled into character's struggles and story without even noticing it happening. I loved the adventure and journey they went on. The land and inhabitants were creative and the Christian analogy of the story was beautifully done. Just beautiful. The villains of the story made my skin crawl and gave me the shivers. I have said this in a previous post but I will say it again, Mr. Batson is talented when it comes to villains. A must read for fantasy, adventure, and Christian readers. They won't be sorry.

Star Gazing
A destroyed man. Identical twin kings who don?t have similar plans for the kingdom. A world hanging in the balance with only One who can save it.
Alastair is a man searching; whether for peace of mind, someone to save him and the world through The Halflainin, or for relief from life in the bottom of a bottle of Whitchdrale, he is searching. I like him because he doesn't know, he is uncertain, lost even. So often in books the hero might not know what to do but they just keep pushing on, thinking it will work out. Alastair falls over and over because of his past life, he is more real then most characters in books now a days. I felt I needed to read this book, I found strength in Alastair to get me through my life. He had me thinking, if Alastair can get up so can I.
Abbagael who has so much spunk, perseverance, and determination that you can't help but love her. She is caring, smart, and funny, good with a bow as well. She is so much like me, I had to laugh at myself as I laughed at her. She reflects what I think most girls wish they were like and gives them courage. Wayne Thomas Batson didn?t make her a true warrior women which I felt was wise, so often authors make girls just a strong/fierce as the men and some girls might be like this but not all, he added depth to the whole story through her.
There are two villains, I can't decide which one is my "favorite" bad guy. Morlan the jealous, power hungry, almost above genius king. Or the psychopathic, autopsy, assassin, and right hand man Crythraul. Wayne Thomas Batson did a great job telling us about Morlan. He didn't swamp us with detail so that we understand him too much, he gave us just what is needed to wrap our minds around the traitorous things he has done and has in mind.
As for the land, Myriad, I felt like I knew in a matter of moments. With the Marinaen, who can breath underwater, the Windborne men with wings, and many more great races like:
Shepherds- their job is to give council, and fight if needed, also their rather cool powers.
Willowfolk - which you have to love becausetheytalklikethis, and are just a lot of fun.
Gorracks - which are evil in their own right, not quite human yet not a true beast, I love how Wayne Thomas Batson did that.
Now I know a lot of people will be saying ?to many?. To many races, to many places, to many characters, just to many! And I will admit, there was a lot to learn in Myriad. I feel a map would have helped tremendously, but I also enjoyed having to slow down to read this book. This is a book so deep you have to stop and enjoy it.
I had fun looking within the story for references to other books I have read like: Le-Saide and Fane from the White Lion Chronicles by Christopher Hopper, or Librettowit from Donita K. Pauls Dragon Keeper series and many more which I am sure I missed. Also I knew some of the people mentioned in the book.
Sword in the Stars is a book that?s target age is older then most of Wayne Thomas Batson?s books. I like that fact, I think he is staying with his readers as they grow up as well.
Overall I really enjoyed learning of Myraid?s history in a way I have never seen an author do before. 5 Stars!
