This second book in the Series, the Chronicles of the Kings, begins with the reforms of King Hezekiah, in Israel, following the years of idolatry introduced by his late father, King Ahaz. It also follows the construction of the Siloam tunnel in the 8th century B.C. which was an amazing feat of engineering for its day, in which a tunnel was dug with primitive tools, in order to supply the city of Jerusalem with water during a siege. You can still go into it to this day! Meanwhile, the rampaging Assyrian army is laying siege to all the neighbouring fortified cities, and they fall systematically, all the while coming closer to Jerusalem. You begin to feel the panic of the people as the Assyrian army approaches. This is when God's faithfulness and power and Hezekiah's faith are revealed.
