Wonderful collection of recipes, essays & pictures
If food is supposed to be evocative of stories and memories, this collection illustrates the significance of food and tradition in Californian Indian without me having to eat. While this is not a conventional cookbook, it is a great resource for California Indians. Not all the entries are conventional recipes with instructions, ingredient measurements, etc. but I think that's ok. The mixture of pictures, recipes, and stories were all beautifully arranged. I enjoyed looking it over with my partner as they showed me how the recipe's and traditions of other tribes paralleled their own.
