It is necessary here only to make a statement of the editions followed in the citations from the Latin authors. For Ennius, Vahlen' (1903) has been em ployed for Plautus, Lindsay; for Terence, Dziatzko for Lucilius, Marx; for Varro, Riese; for Lucretius, the Oxford text.
