Fulfilling an ambition is a great thing, and as Adams takes a year to learn to play a piece of Schuman for his wife on the piano - an instrument he has to learn - he takes us on a lovely journey into himself, into the sense of aging, and into the piano, its players and a little of its history and beauty. You feel for him through his trials and errors, and empathise with his lazy, unmotivated moments. There's a gentle sense of beauty about the whole thing, and you're carried along to share his small triumph at the end. Lovely.
