This book is my favourite book of all time; I have read it four times and will probably read it again. On the surface this book pokes fun at bureaucracies and is extremely entertaining; under the surface of the stories told, is a deep psycological meaning to many aspects to human behaviour. This book is frequently trashed as being too old and has been replaced by many other authors. I believe the people who trash this book are the very people the book sets out to ridicule. The first time I read this book, I could see people I worked with every day. The second time I read it gave me a greater understanding of why these bureaucrats behave as they do. The third and fourth time I found myself psyco-analysing my own behaviour. Bureaucrats are dangerous, sleazy, lying, manipulative and devious; they hav'nt changed over the years and so the message of this book is still relevant today.
