This book is set in England during WWII. It is about a young R.A.F. pilot, Peter Marshall, and the perils of war. It is also about his love of a W.A.A.F. , Gervase. Neville Shute was himself an R.A.F. officer and gives a very good account of flying over the flak-filled skies of Germany. Hard to put down.
