Seller's Description:
New. Nevil Shute was a power and a pioneer in the world of flying long before he began to write the stories that made him a bestselling novelist. This autobiography charts Shute's path from childhood to his career as a gifted aeronautical engineer working at the forefront of the technological experimentation of the 1920s and 30s. Num Pages: 272 pages. BIC Classification: FC. Category: (G) General (US: Trade). Dimension: 196 x 133 x 19. Weight in Grams: 204. We ship daily from our Bookshop.
In his autobiography Nevil gives his side of the story of the antipathy, ignorance and arrogance of the Air Ministry designing a fault ridden dirigible which crashed with loss of life, whilst a superior unit made by experts in the industry was extremely successful. Yet because of the Ministry's incompetence the whole project was unnecessarily cancelled. I would like to think that things have changed for the better, but....................

Nevil can really make you feel like you are living in another time. The details take you into a three dimensional experience. I too work in the engineering field. It is too bad that the world will not listen to us, we could solve most of the worlds problems food, housing, energy. We just can't stop the evil only ameliorate it. It is not true that no good ever comes from war, in point of fact every halt in the progress of evil came from the application of war
