This book is much more than "A History of the Democrats." It is an excellent, comprehensive political history of the of the United States, from the days of Jefferson to those of Bill Clinton (yes, Hillary is also there). There is tremendous amount of historical information into it, but the reading is helped by a style that is neither pedantic nor "dumbed down." Good as a source of information and also as a reference tool. After reading it, not only do I understand the Democratic Party politics better, but I also have a very good feeling for the role of the Republican Party through history, and at the present. A good and important book!
